Unfortunately, the show of punk veterans Face to Face has also been cancelled.

They have called off their entire European summer tour.

Das Pop has been moved from Thursday to Friday and will open on the Main Stage.

Me and my friend arrived Seinäjoki 12.6 (Friday). Sky was sunny and there were thousands of cheerful people walking around us. We found a nice camping spot from the Camp Provinssi. By chance there were a lot of our friends camping very near us so the time didn’t get boring.

Norwegian death punk band Turbonegro and legendary glam rock act New York Dolls are the latest additions to Ankkarock bill. Both bands will perform on Saturday August 1st.

After cancelling their tour last year due to guitarist Euroboy's unfortunate health problems, death punk band Turbonegro are back on their feet again, ready to rumble and rock the Ankkarock stage with hits such as "All My Friends Are Dead" and "I Got Erection".

Besides their original mixture of glam rock and punk, legendary New York Dolls are also known for their colourful clothing, notorious way of life and sharing a member with Finland's favourites Hanoi Rocks.

Festival tickets are on sale at Ankkarock’s website and at Tiketti and Lippupalvelu nationwide. Day tickets cost 45 euros and two-day tickets 80 euros. There will still be some additions to the bill during the summer.

Ruisrock This weekend!

E-mail Print
Saturday tickets already sold out

The traditional highlight of the Finnish festival summer, Ruisrock, will be arranged in Ruissalo, Turku, next weekend on July 3-5, 2009. During the three festival days, there will be over fifty acts, nearly half of them domestic. Due to record ticket demand, Saturday tickets have already sold out.

Ruisrock’s Friday is consecrated to heavy music, presenting such acts as American mega names Slipknot (USA) and Disturbed (USA), domestic metal tops Children of Bodom, legendary Stone and post metal cult name Neurosis (USA).

In addition to the hot foreign artists, Saturday is full of Finland’s finest! Visually amazing Mew (DEN), more popular than ever The Sounds (SWE), first time Finland visitor The Living End (AU) and indie acts Glasvegas (UK) and Ladytron (UK) are accompanied by Finnrock giant Eppu Normaali, reunited Tehosekoitin, the hottest name in the Finnish rhythm music scene Asa & Jätkäjätkät, recently added Disco Ensemble, Finnrock bands Egotrippi and Scandinavian Music Group and many others.

Ruisrock’s Sunday presents Faith No More (USA), elvis metal band Volbeat (DEN), New York’s gypsy punks Gogol Bordello (USA), desert rock group Calexico (USA), reunited Soul Captain Band and the so-called combination of Bruce Springsteen and The Killers The Gaslight Anthem (USA). Sunday will also be known as the day when Turku-originated The Crash played their last gig.

Festival stages consist of Niittylava, Rantalava, Paviljonkilava, Teltta and Converse-lava. This year’s Ruisrock provides even more versatile food options, including ”Ruisbistro” with table service. Hans Välimäki’s famous Chez Dominique has created festival foods that are available at the food market next to Niittylava. As usually, Ruisrock offers several other activities besides music – you can try everything from bungee jumping to surf simulators, Guitar Hero tournaments and jacuzzis. Radio X3M transmits Ruisrock’s happenings during the whole weekend.

Due to great demand, Ruisrock organisers recommend all festival guests to buy tickets beforehand at Tiketti, Lippupalvelu or Ruisrock kiosk at Turku market square. Saturday, 2-day and 3-day tickets have already sold out but a limited amount of Friday and Sunday tickets are still available. If capacities allow, Friday and Sunday tickets will also be sold at the gates.

Ruisrock’s own campsites have already sold out but there’s still space at Ruissalo’s Saaronniemi campsite. Ruisrock organisation wishes that all festival guests read the safety instructions and other useful information at the festival’s website. Band introductions, timetables and other information can also be found at the same address.
