The Next summer 40th birthday celebrating Ruisrock festival has announced the first performers. On July 9th – 11th there is possibility to see alternative rock and post-hardcore mixing
Billy Talent (CAN), first time to Finland arriving indie pop-band
Belle & Sebastian (UK), punk bands
NOFX (USA),
Rise Against (USA), one of the Sweden’s most popular pop-/rock bands
The Sounds (SWE) and
The Ark. Ruisrock’s national main performer is a Finnish rock music greatness Don Huonot, who is doing a short comeback. In spring the band releases a collection which handles the band’s great career and for the honor of that Don Huonot jumps on the stage after 7 years break.

Flogging Molly (USA), an alternative metal band
Baroness (USA), an Indie comet
Florence & The Machine, a heavy progressive rock band
Porcupine Tree (UK), a death metal band
Arch Enemy (SWE), a garage rock legend
The Sonics (USA), a singer-songwriter sensation newcomer Prince of Assyria, a Viking metal orchestra
Amon Amarth (SWE), and a mega popular rockabilly band
The Baseballs (GER).
Finnish bands strengthening the band list are
Stam1na (#1 in Finland’s official top list), at the moment Finland’s most popular band
Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu, in the end of the spring a new album publishing
Disco Ensemble,
Michael Monroe & out of great names collected background band, actor and singer
Vesa-Matti Loiri, a Finnish Emma gala’s award collector
PMMP and many other favorite artists. There will be added many more Finnish and foreigner bands to the repertoire later in spring.
3-day tickets to the festival costs 110 € and they are being sold in Tiketti, Lippupalvelu and Ruisrock’s website on Wednesday 3th of July. Line-up for each day will be solved later in spring. At the same time starts also 1-day and 2-day tickets sale.
The person who is account to the visual look of Ruisrock for this year is the open contest winner Diana Maria de la Encarnacion. 28-year-old graphical designer from Helsinki has earlier studied in Pekka Halonen’s academy, in the School of Art and Design and worked in advertising agency.
This is what Diana tells about the look: “I wanted to make a new look for the celebration year of Ruisrock, something which differs from the earlier years. In the planning I thought the ways to make the look suitable for many different uses. As a designer I’m more like a maker than considerer and the ideas born piece by piece while working. While starting my design I knew only that I wanted to use illustration as part of the graphical look. I ended up to a slim lined typography because that was nice counterbalance for my rough graphics. I didn’t want to draw recognizable human person and that’s why the character’s hand reaches out to the audience leaving the face hide background. I also wanted to play with colors so I created 4 different kinds of color worlds, each with different kind of atmosphere.” www.dgraphics.fi
